It's been quite a while since the last time I wrote here and, holy watermelon! So many things have happened between now and then.
For starters, Gerhard finished his master's degree in Germany (clap, clap clap!) and I spent about 9 months working for the United Nations in Bonn. Our time in Europe was a truly wonderful one and it gave us the chance to begin our married life living in one of the most amazing places on earth.
On October 2013 we moved back to the United States. It was a very important moment for us, because it meant we were finally going to settle down after three years of wandering between Berlin, Bonn, Caracas and Maryville.
Gerhard found a job at the Communications Department of Maryville College, in Maryville, Tennessee, doing exactly what he wanted to do and where he has the chance to exercise all the skills he learnt during his master's program in Germany. His coworkers are amazing people and we're now closer to family.
I work from home on full-time basis for SciDev.Net. There I'm a correspondent for scientific issues in Latin America and since May 2013 I'm the User Engagement Coordinator for the Latin America and Caribbean region. It's a wonderful job where I have the chance to interact with people from around the world and travel to interesting places a few times a year. I couldn't ask for more!
But there are even more exciting news: in April this year we bought our first home... And we're expecting our first child! Sofia Isabel will be born in September 2014. We can't wait to meet her and we are already so in love with her! It's definitely going to be an exciting new phase.
So from now on I'm gonna make an effort to try to share more about this new phase as a foreign working-from-home mom in this blog, because there are so many things I would like to share with you guys.
Here are some pictures of the past 18 months. Wow! Time really flies! I hope you enjoy them.
